PARENT
CONNECTION: One of
the most appreciated aspects of the Fairfield Academy experience is the frequent contact
the parents have with their childrens teachers and with the school office.
Opportunities for parent-teacher contact abound, and interaction between the two groups
occurs in various settings. Before and After Classes: Most parents at Fairfield
drive their children to school on a daily basis. This brings the parents into the school
and into their childrens classrooms on a daily (frequently twice-daily) basis. Not
only is the parent-child relationship enhanced by the one-on-one attention occasioned by
these jaunts, but the incidental daily contact between parents and teachers affords an
opportunity for daily communication.
Drop-in Conferences: Time is allocated both
before and after classes for parents to have drop-on conferences with their
childrens teachers. These conferences may last only five to ten minutes, but they
are often quite valuable in ensuring accurate and effective communication.
Formal Conferences: Formal, scheduled
parent-teacher conferences are conducted twice yearly on conference days to review student
progress. In addition, formal parent-teacher conferences may be scheduled at any time by
appointment, when either the parents or the academy deem it necessary.
Parent Mail: Every Tuesday, the parents
receive a "Parent Mail" envelope. They take their envelope home, review the
contents, and return it the next day. Reminders of coming events, monthly calendars,
school menus, grade-level newsletters, and Weekly Progress Reports are examples of the
items found in the Parent Mail envelopes.
Weekly Progress Reports: Many parents dont want
to wait for a surprise at report card time. The Weekly Progress Reports alleviate this
concern. Every Fairfield Academy parent receives a short written report every week
regarding his or her childs progress.
Special Events: Parents are always welcome
at all academy events.
